Emmett Technique
Emmett Technique was developed in Australia by Ross Emmett. As a Person who loves animals, Ross became a judge for the Australian Dog Obedience community and a successful animal trainer.
He worked with many animals in distress, developing his own technique to help and treat the animals and their handlers when needed.
Combining the knowledge he accumulated over the years, working with animals and people, in his massage and remedial therapy practice since the early 1980s, he finally created his own technique called the Emmett Technique therapy.
Today the therapy is taught worldwide and used by thousands of practitioners as a stand-alone therapy or combined with existing therapy for humans and animals.

The technique is referred to by some as “the first aid” technique when it comes to aches and pain, but Ross himself refers to it as the “chameleon approach therapy”, adapting to what the client needs.

As a non-invasive bodywork therapy, the Emmett technique aims to help clients with pain and discomfort. Yet, it is also very successful in addressing the lymphatic system very gently.
Emmett technique is a complementary therapy that works well with or supports other medical treatments.
What is Emmett therapies?
With a technique that does not originate from another modality, Ross brings a fresh outlook and experience on how the body responds to a light touch or a move called a "switch" on specific key points of the body. These points are called "Emmett points".

These points stimulate the client's nervous system, causing the brain to react to the light but precise touch,

giving new muscle instructions to the physical state of the localized areas and beyond.
Emmett therapies consultation

Emmett therapies can be used while sitting, standing, or lying down.

At the Pain-to-Wellness Support Centre, when addressing a specific pain or injury, a session can be between 15-20 min but used as a relaxation technique, a session can be approximately 40 min.
Lymphatic sessions can be approximately 20 -30 min long.
Depending on the client's response on the first session, a follow-up session may be advised in a cycle of 48H.
Emmett and your lymphatics.
Your lymphatic system is often called your "dustbin" or "waste system". The system consists of a network of tissue and organs helping your body to
get rid of toxins and unwanted materials.
One of the essential functions of the lymphatic system is to help drain excess fluid from tissues.

This helps keep the body's tissues healthy and functioning correctly.
The lymphatic system also plays a role in the body's immune response, helping to fight infection and disease.

If experiencing one of the following effects, receiving a lymphatic session might be a good idea.

Constant allergies and food sensitivities for no specific reason
Bloating
Brain fog
Chronic lethargy (persistent tiredness)
Constipation
Depression
Digestive problems
Swollen lymph nodes
Excess weight
Increased susceptibility to colds and flu
Sinus infections
Swelling in your fingers/rings fitting more tightly

Cancer patients receiving chemo or radiation will significantly benefit from a lymphatic session.

How frequently a session should be done differs from person to person and their circumstances.
Discuss this with the Pain-to-Wellness Support Centre practitioner.
Why is Emmett Technique so unique?
Working on a body as gently as you would work on your phone's touchscreen. This is the amount of pressure you sometimes need for your body to respond to touch.
Emmett Technique uses specific points (time and pressure specific) on the body, called "Emmett points", to release muscle and facia.
Using holding points and a move called a 'switch', the Emmett Technique is precise in addressing chronic pain but can also be used in specific sequences to address the lymphatic system.
Emmett Technique is outcome-based, testing movement before and after a session.
